The club kits have arrived!

The renewal costs $29.50 and all the redemption certificates are included inside your membership kit.  You can redeem them immediately, you do not need to wait.  For those collectors who purchased an instant kit, your redemption certificate will arrive through the mail, they are not included in the box.  This is the first year that they are including all the redemption certificates inside the club kits.

Membership kit: When you join, you receive the club membership kit. The membership kit contains:

• You Hold the Key to My Heart member edition (released 2000)
• a pin of This Is the Key
• a membership card with your name, member number, and date joined.
• the 2000 catalog
• a mousepad
• a notepad
• Thank You card (same as 1999)

Incentive: If you renew membership, you will receive a special incentive item.

1999 LEAF AND ACORN CLUB

Membership cost: $27.50

Membership kit: When you join, you receive the club membership kit. The membership kit (mailed in a nice cardboard box) contains:

• You Are My Shining Star member edition (released February 1999)
• a pin of Nap Time
• a membership card with your name, member number, and date joined attached to the redemption certificate for Ring around the Rosie
• the 1999 catalog
• a thank you card
• a canvas tote bag

The Canadian club kit did not originally include the canvas tote bag or the thank-you card. They were mailed out later.

Newsletter: Four issues of the Squashville Gazette are mailed out quarterly (April 1999, September 1999 [mistakenly labeled volume 3, issue 1], December 1999). The April issue included an invitation card to the Long Beach International Collectible Exposition.

Members only pieces: Members receive redemption forms that they bring to stores to order the members only pieces. The following are the members only pieces released during 1999:

• Ring around the Rosie--1999 members only piece.
  Released April 1999 and has to be redeemed by December 31, 1999. $23.00.
• A Snowy Trio--1999 members only piece.
  Released December 1999 and has to be redeemed by February 28, 2000. $21.00.

1997-98 CHARTER YEAR, LEAF AND ACORN CLUB

The Leaf and Acorn Club officially began in 1997, with its charter year extended throughout 1998.

Membership cost: $24.50

Membership kit: When you joined in 1997 or 1998 through Fitz and Floyd or a store, you received the club membership kit. Stores could order the kits and sell them to collectors on the spot. The price was the same whether you joined through Fitz and Floyd or a store. I've been told that the stores made no money from selling the memberships. The only benefit the stores got is presumably drumming up future business. The membership kit contained:

• Thank You member edition (released April 1997)
• the Leaf and Acorn Club Pin (Mackenzie inside an acorn)
• a form to join the club (a membership card attached to the redemption certificate for Maxine's Leaf Collection was later sent out)
• the 1997 or 1998 catalog
• a thank you card
• a paper tote bag (everything came in the bag)

1996 ACORN SOCIETY

The Charming Tails club was originally called the Acorn Society. It was begun at the International Collectible Exposition in Rosemont in 1996. It was created to test collector interest, and obviously it was a big success. Its successor, the current Leaf and Acorn Club, was then begun in 1997.

Membership kit: The kit they gave to members at Rosemont included:

• Hot Doggin' hand signed by Dean Griff
• a cloisonne pin
• a membership certificate
• an Acorn Society pen
• an Acorn Society canvas tote bag
• an Acorn Society paper bag

They ran out of the kits at Rosemont, so they mailed the kit plus two extras:

• a temporary tattoo (of Good Luck)
• a thank you card

Extra: Debbie reports getting a magnet in her kit as well. It is Mackenzie hanging onto a four-leaf clover, and it's made like the figural pins we received with the Leaf and Acorn Club kits. It's slightly larger at 2-1/2 inches tall. They ran out of kits at Rosemont, so hers was shipped after the show. Does anyone else have this magnet? It's shown here with the Leaf and Acorn Club pin for a size comparison.
