Archives | We Have Winners! |
This is national poetry month, so sharpen your pencils or your dust off your keyboard. It's time to put your thinking caps on and write a poem about Charming Tails or the characters of Squashville. You may use any style of poetry you like. Anyone that sends a poem will be entered into the drawing for three summer pieces. Good luck. I know you are creative. You can do it.
E-mail your poems to catrink@aol.com by midnight Saturday, May 8, 1999. The winner from the drawing will get a prize from Elaine's Mouse Trap.
Note: Members can only win once a month.
How does your garden grow? Members had to list Charming Tails pieces that have garden fruit or vegetable plants.
Congratulations to Fleaflicke@aol.com! She had 86 in her list. We didn't count mushrooms since the group in the chat voted they were fungus, not fruits and vegetables. We didn't count holly berries because no one else did either. Fleaflicke even had pumpkin pie. But she had the most without it, so Cathy didn't have to decide is pumpkin pie really a vegetable. A couple of other members came close to the same number.
The prize is Training Wings or a gift certificate from Collecto-Mania.
Here is her list (verified by Cathy):
Members of the club are writing to the servicemen overseas. If you would like to take a minute to address a card, a printed computer card, a post card, or a note, you can send it as described below (with or without a return address on it). It isn't that they need a pen pal as much as they need a link to the U.S. to the things that are going on here. It could be a thank you for defending our country, a thinking of you, or a so proud you chose such an important profession. It would cost each of us a 33cent commitment, with no strings attached, that would make the difference in another fellow human's life. If you don't feel compelled to participate, you are by no means required at all. We just found some people that needed some notes and thought some of you might like to help. So how about it, all you wonderful Charming Tails people?

They are also in need of supplies. If you would like to donate supplies, you can take them to your local Red Cross with the following address. The first is for Kuwait, and the second is for Saudi. You might want to check with your Red Cross first before collecting a lot of things, but I am assured that almost all Red Crosses are sending supplies. Some of the things they are in need of are blank cards, especially for Mother's and Father's Day, playing cards, lip balm, sunscreen, hot chocolate mix, Kool Aid, Brachs candy, or any non-chocolate candies.

Those club members who attended the Flamingo Fling got together and took a picture with Dean. Thanks to Linda for sending me the photo.
Left to right: Donna Jeffreys, Sybil Bradley, Linda Genest, Peggy (EARSANTAIL), Suzanne Gamble, Dean Griff, Sandi Woods (Honeydo), Rona Horn (Autumn), Angie McKinley (Twink), Cindy Zugay (CHMTAILS), Candy Fierro, and Tita.
Cathy received another note from our favorite artist! This is for all of you who sent Dean cards and such this past Christmas. We've seen all the new pieces--any wonder he's been busy?
I'm sorry I haven't sent out thank you notes to everyone who was so kind this past Christmas with cookies, cards and kind words. I would like to say thank you to everyone!!!! January has been one those months that has just flown by and I have found myself with too many undone tasks. So please let everyone know that I received their cards, wonderful gifts and would just like to let them know how much they mean to me.
Charming Tails isn't a business to me, it is more a way of life. The simple thoughtful things that Mackenzie and the gang do are really a reflection of how I see life and how I feel about the many wonderful people who have allowed me to share in their lives. I know this all sounds corny and maybe a bit silly but it really is the way I feel.
Once again Thank You to everyone who takes the time to share a smile with someone or lend a shoulder to cry on, for you are the reasons for Charming Tails !!!!
All The Best And Much Love,
Dean
