Time for Summer Fun!!
R.A.K. is BAcK! That’s right! We are re-instituting the Random Acts of Kindness program. A special thanks to Deborah Duff-Fleming for volunteering to be the coordinator. Anyone wishing to participate should contact Deborah at D713g922@aol.com She will send you an e-mail requesting your mailing information and ask a few questions to help others send something appropriate (i.e. birth date, anniversary, etc.). The program will run as it did before. These are the instructions Nancy Roth prepared when she was the coordinator. Basically, it’s purpose is for you to ‘make someone’s day’ by sending out a greeting of some sort. You don’t need to do it each day, nor do you need to send to everybody every time. But you should try to ‘hit’ everyone on the list at least once in a while. We all need a pick me up every now and then. RAKs should consist of an e-mail card, snail mail card or a SMALL gift. Please do not send anything big or expensive – that’s not the purpose. Just a little something to make someone smile and cheer up their day. You can send it anonymously or include your name and address. PLEASE make sure to thank the person for your RAK. There are NO obligations to fulfill here. You can have your name removed from the list at any time.
So remember, contact
Deborah if you would like to be a part of this fun program. |

LOOK WHO’S JOINED THE CLUB….. To learn a little more about each of our members and help them get in touch with one another this column will become a regular feature. We have FIVE new members to introduce: Tia Markat from Lodi, Wisconsin is the newest collector of the group. She just started her collection in March of this year. She has not had an opportunity to meet Dean yet. Kristen O’Connor from Indiana Orchard, Massachusetts has been collecting for four years and met Dean at a signing in Ellicott City. If anyone can help her, she’s looking for the pumpkin pie piece. Anita Barham is also from Massachusetts, Purvis is her hometown. Anita has been collecting since 1996. She met Dean for the first time at the Christmas Dove signing in New Orleans prior to the cruise. Unfortunately, she was NOT going on the cruise but after having met so many other collectors had wished she were cruising too! Caroline hails from Moreno Valley, California and has been collecting for 10 years. This year she is concentrating on a beach theme and will be incorporating all of the new under to sea pieces just released. Caroline recently met Dean at the California signing event. Judy Rozhom from Oak Lawn, Illinois was on the cruise and attended the St. Louis signing last year. She’s been collecting since 2000 and isn’t looking for a specific piece, just ‘all’ of them. If you live near any of these new members, know of a local club for them to join or would just like to say hi, please e-mail Susan Ott and your message will be forwarded to set up future contact. To all of our new members, WELCOME!! You’re going to love all of the things in store for our members!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

In the United States, July 4th is a special holiday to celebrate our independence from England. But did you know that in Canada, July 1st is "Canada Day," which celebrates the anniversary of the union of the British North American provinces into a federation called Canada?!? Happy Birthday Canada! As our own special celebration of both "birthdays," this month's contest has a patriotic theme and is sponsored by Christmas Dove, which has stores in Barrington, New Hampshire - Ogunquit, Maine - New York, New York - Boston, Massachusetts - New Orleans, Louisiana - and Baltimore, Maryland! (Whew!) The Christmas Dove has donated the prize of "Friendship Around the World" and we would like to Welcome Christmas Dove as the newest Squashville Social Club sponsor! So - what you need to do is name the Charming Tails piece with the Canadian symbol on it, as well as the piece with the Canadian Flag. In addition, you need to name 6 pieces with a patriotic theme, either with a U.S.A. flag or it's colors (you know - red, white & blue) on it! Just email your entry to
Tiffany Everett (rooroo2@hotmail.com).
All entries must be received no later than Midnight (Central Time) on July
31st! And please be sure to include "CT Contest" in the subject line!!
Good luck! |

In June, we celebrated Father’s Day with a list of scrambled pieces about Dad. With so many correct entries, we drew our winner from a hat! And our lucky winner of "You're a Great Catch", donated by Piroska's Gift Shop in Mansfield, Ohio, was Barbara Biel from Florida. If you didn't get them all un-scrambled, here are the answers. 1.

If you submit an idea and it’s published, you will also win a prize. It doesn’t have to be a hard puzzle or game. Trust me, after thinking the Mystery Cruise game was a great idea, I quickly learned by the nearly non-existent response – that it was just too hard. Hopefully, we will not let that happen again. Since we had such great prizes for that contest (thanks to the Christmas Dove and Fitz & Floyd) you will want to either submit your ideas or be sure and enter all contests in the future.
We are hoping to add plenty of new sponsors to keep those
prizes
coming. If you know of a store that would like to be a sponsor and have
their website linked to our newsletter please e-mail
Tiffany
with their phone number and a contact person’s name. |

Most of you will remember what a
wonderful time we had at Rosemont with our Pizza Party. (Not to
mention the great charity contribution we were able to give that
year.) Since it looks like that convention is a thing of the past, we
have not had a forum to gather a great number of our members in one
place…so, we’d like some help with ideas to bring us together.
Suggestions have been made to maybe hold a little something in Las Vegas. What do you, our members, want? You have a
team of officers ready to run with your ideas. |

Don't
forget ... if you're ever looking for a past issue of "News in a Nutshell" -
just click on the "ribbon" graphic that's towards the bottom of the CT
Resource Page, right next to "Fun Stuff". This is a
permanent link and takes you to the Squashville Social Club Newsletter
Archive! All the past issues are there - for you to enjoy! |

Without the support of our sponsors, we would not be able
to bring you the monthly contests. Please show our sponsors how much
we appreciate them by making your Charming Tails purchases from them.
And - to make it easy, we're adding a permanent list of all the wonderful
stores that sponsor the Squashville Social Club. This list will be
here all the time - so anytime you're in the mood to do some "Tail
shopping", just pick a sponsor and pick out the pieces you've "got to
have"!! |
