Happy St. Patrick's Day
Recently, the Election Committee announced nominations for officers to serve the next term for the Squashville Social Club. We first want to express our SINCERE THANKS!! to Barbara Twichell and Deborah Duff-Fleming for taking the time to help out this with very important committee. They willingly (??) jumped in at the last minute and did an excellent job! Again - THANKS Barb & Deborah! As to the offices of President, Vice President and Treasurer, we only had one nominee who accepted the candidacy for each position. Therefore, by motion of the Officers, they were confirmed as unanimous winners of their elections, since there was no point in having you members vote. We're sure you'll all agree that we have a great new group of officers. And they are ...
President -
Susan Ott HOWEVER - we do not have anyone willing to serve in the position of Secretary! You may have noticed that the Election Committee has posted several times on the boards, seeking someone to volunteer to fill this position. Well - we still need someone willing to give back a little to the Squashville Social Club. It only takes a few hours twice a month for the meetings, and the Secretary's primary other roles are to create the minutes of each meeting and to maintain the Club Membership list. So we REALLY need to hear from just ONE PERSON willing to help out. If you are willing to serve as the SSC Secretary, please email Susan Ott. We also want to take just a moment to express our sincere thanks to the out-going officers. Susan and Joan were Vice President and Treasurer - and we're thrilled they will be back. Mike Brennan, President for the past 5 years, and Lauri Nickel, our Secretary, have both decided to take a break. We really appreciate all they have done for the Club! Thanks for getting involved and helping to make the Squashville Social Club fun and one of the Charming Tails collectors' best places to find out all the latest news about Charming Tails! A note from Mike Brennan: As previously announced, I have decided to step aside and devote my time to some other "duties" that have gone long un-attended. However, when Oak Leaf Publishing first offered to host the SSC Newsletter, I agreed that I would continue to host the newsletter right here on the Charming Tails Resource Page. I will be happy to continue doing so and hope, in fact, to now have the time to re-establish some additional pages for the SSC. All my best wishes to the new officers. I have really enjoyed working with Susan as our Vice President this past year and feel very confident that she is going to be a great asset to the Club as its President. Let me add a hearty "Welcome" to Tiffany and an on-going "Thanks" to Joan. It really is a lot of fun and a great way to get to meet lots and lots of Charming Tails collectors! Happy Tailing!!
Meet a
Cruise Winner!!
As we mentioned in the January newsletter - the first Cruise Winner was Karen Piercy. Here's a little more about Karen that Susan Ott (quickly becoming our ace reporter!) found out about Karen in a recent interview. Karen and her husband Dave will be going on the cruise compliments of Fitz & Floyd. They have added a couple days on to the cruise to have some time enjoying New Orleans. Karen and Dave live in Crown Point, Indiana with their dog Bailey. Karen started collecting Charming Tails almost from the beginning. Her first piece was Mackenzie Snowball... and well, things have 'snowballed' ever since. I first met Karen standing in line at Rosemont a few years ago. That was a terrific place to make a new friend - you would be standing and chatting with someone for hours!! I was amazed she made it through that line more than once. Now that's a true collector. Karen has attended lots of Charming Tails events besides Rosemont, she was at the regional event at the Dells, signings at European Imports, and the character event at Frankenmuth, Michigan where she entered the contest to win the cruise for two!! I'm sure she'll go back to Bronner's again this year - so if you see Karen, be sure and congratulate her!! With LOADS of glee - Karen added that the most exciting thing about winning the Cruise prize was that Dean himself called her to tell her she had won!!!!!
Once again - it is time to purge the old/bad addresses from the Squashville Social Club membership list. Please follow THIS LINK to a list of all the addresses that have kicked back in the past 5 months. Instructions on how to notify us of address changes/updates/status are included on this page.Be aware - ALL THE ADDRESSES ON THE LIST WILL BE PURGED ON APRIL 1ST (and that's NOT an April Fools Day joke). So if your address is on the list - and it is still a good address - LET US KNOW!! Otherwise, you will not continue to receive notification of newsletter announcements, will not be eligible to participate in our contests, cannot vote in SSC elections, etc. So make sure you check the list and, if your GOOD email is on there - it is especially important that you LET US KNOW!!! |

MYSTERY CRUISER #9 No. 9 is a seasoned cruiser who has traveled to the Caribbean, Scandinavian capitals, Alaska, Mexico and the Panama Canal. No. 9 has not been to New Orleans before and says “An adventure in a new place is always fun.” No special occasion for No. 9. But is traveling with 3 other family members encompassing three generations. When asked if No. 9 had ever met Dean this was the response: Yes, and what a delight! I was a late learner about signing and expos, and events; but once I learned I became an avid fan! The first time I met Dean was at the signing in at Bronners (Hint: that was in the same state No. 9 is from) right after 9/11 and I have my Wrapped with Pride print displayed prominently.” (Hint: No. 9 {with sibling} was at G&L’s Hoe Down {I sat at same table})!! MYSTERY CRUISER #10 Another very well traveled cruiser! No. 10 has been on numerous cruises including the QE2!!! No. 10 is a long-time Charming Tails collector and has met Dean on many occasions at various locations. No. 10’s response to when was the first time you met Dean was “…at a gift shop in a mall in Allentown, PA. He wasn’t that busy there and at the time signed, and signed and signed No. 10’s collection. “ You know that was a LONG time ago!!!! No. 10 and guest are traveling about 1,500 miles to New Orleans. Seems like No. 9 and No. 10 should know each other: Avid cruisers, have met Dean, love traveling and adventures, and have been collecting Charming Tails for quite some time. I guess most of us fit that description. Now ... how do you WIN??!!?? Well, it won’t be long now! If you’re NOT going on the cruise – you can e-mail your guesses as to the identity of the 10 cruisers (even if you don’t know all ten) anytime to Susan Ott. All entries need to be received by April 14th! If you ARE going on the cruise – contest entry forms will be available on the ship. Two prizes will be awarded – one for on-line and one for on ship. I hope you have enjoyed reading about the travelers. Here are some additional hints: Three of the 10 are male. Some of the home states are: Ohio; Pennsylvania; Michigan; Florida and Indiana. A couple of them have met all of the others. One REALLY stands out in a crowd.
So
be sure to make your guesses and get them in to Susan before the deadline.
