SSC MEMBER Janet from Texas! For almost eight years, Janet has been collecting Charming Tails! Her collection totals more than 300 pieces, all starting with the popular "Slumber Party" figurine. "I was in an out-of-the-way Hallmark looking for older Cherished Teddies for my collection and stumbled across a few Charming Tails. I saw Slumber Party and fell in love! I called my fellow collector friend in Florida and told her about it and she had heard of them but hadn't seen the piece. So I bought her one as well and we BOTH became hooked," she said. "Then we went on a mission to go back and get older pieces that we had missed. This was no easy task, because I could only find two local stores that carried the line. Most of our purchases were done from out-of-state stores that we found by calling!"
She ranks "Two Peas in a Pod" and "Slumber Party" among her favorites.
"Slumber Party is one of my favorites not only because it was my first
piece, but because of its simplistic beauty," Janice said. "Two
Peas in a Pod is a favorite because it is such a sweet depiction and
because I had a beloved special needs cat named Pea Pod." She met
Dean at a signing in Texarkana. She recalls, "He was WONDERFUL ...
very nice and very gracious." Her favorite CT-moment was finding a
musical/waterball once on sale!" Her other interests include
Swarovski crystal, Cherished Teddies, Calico Kittens, Mary Moos and This
Little Piggies.
It has been brought to our attention that a good number of SAMPLES were
recently sent to the Fitz & Floyd Outlet Store in Orlando, Florida.
These are "samples" - not prototypes and not regular production pieces.
We hear that there were 20 to 30 different samples sent, and some had
more than one. If you're interested in adding some samples to your
collection, call the F&F Outlet store at (407) 351-3487 - ask for

It's
a New Year -- and we have a NEW Squashville Social Club button. As
announced in prior issues of "News in a Nutshell", we are VERY proud that
this year's button was designed by Dean himself!! So here's a chance to get
some Dean Griff artwork you won't find ANYWHERE else! To order, just
send $6.00 for the first button ordered, $3.50 for each additional button in
the same order, to Joan Woodruff, 420 South Dara James Road, Des Plaines, IL
60016-2713. And - Yes, unfortunately, the price for button orders has
gone up. This is the sixth year of the Squashville Social Club and the
first time the price of the buttons has gone up. However, rising costs
for supplies and postage made it necessary for the Officers to adopt the new
prices.
And - the 2002 Squashville Social Club Key Chain was such a hit -- that the
Officers are working on a 2003 Key Chain! Keep your eye out for an
upcoming announcement!! |
As you
know, we've been "hiding" the link to each month's "News in a Nutshell"
behind a different icon on the Charming Tails Resource page. Well -
it's starting to get pretty crowded, as well as difficult to remember which
link leads to which newsletter! So - we have formed the "News in a
Nutshell Archive"! Now you can easily find any past newsletter without
having to hunt around for the right link! You see the "ribbon" graphic
at the beginning of this paragraph? Well - it's on the CT Resource
Page towards the bottom, right next to "Fun Stuff" and it is the permanent
"hidden link" to the Archive! Just click that link, and you'll be
taken to a complete listing of all the past issues - right at hand for easy
reading or reference! We'll continue hiding the current month's
newsletter behind various icons on the CT Resource Page - so be sure to keep
an eye out each monthly announcement on where to find the latest issue of
"News in a Nutshell"! But now you know where to always find the
Archive! |
Well, gang - that's all our latest issue of
the "News in a Nutshell" newsletter!
But HEY!! Have YOU got a CT
scoop? Do YOU want to share a story? Or maybe your favorite CT Photo? Do
you know
of a good CT link that others should check out? Or just let us know
your comments about the Newsletter! Email Erin epbryan@lcc.net
your thoughts or to get
your info in the next SSC Newsletter! |
