Below in the right photo is a picture from the box showing the stuffed bunny with an X or + in the eyes.  Mackenzie is holding an orange jelly bean as well as one in front of his foot laying on the grass.  The bunny's overall colors are much brighter, and his eyes are blue.  The patch on his left foot also has different colors.  Both Mackenzie and Binkey's eyes are not googly as in the actual piece on the left.  This was  probably the prototype since no one ever reported owning one in his or her  collection.  

This piece is the only one other than Catchin' Butterflies to have the mouse and bunny with googly eyes.
