Dean said he designed this piece for his grandmother, mother and sisters because they did a lot of sewing at home. You're Cute As A Button is considered a mid-year introduction. It is not pictured in the 2000 catalog because it was released too late in the year.
You're Cute As A Button was found with the mouse holding a red button. Dean said he felt the purple button was too dark and asked F & F if they could make a color change in the future production. F & F granted Dean his request and starting with the 2001 production pieces, the purple button was changed to red. According to F & F, there were 8,600 pieces produced with the purple button. The purple button version will be more valuable than the red button because they are no longer producing it in purple. .
