BUNNY BUDDIES

89/619 Bunny Buddies

Original selling price: $22.00
Introduced: June 1996
Issued: 1997
Retired: 2000

The photo on my box shows the figurine was photographed from the back view.    It shows the red flower on the left and the yellow on the right like the third photo below.

The second photo shows the prototype of Bunny Buddies.  This figurine was pictured in the first edition of the 1997 catalog (pgs. 5, 10 & 11).  When the second edition was reprinted,  the photo was changed to an all gray bunny.  No actual figurines were made in these colors.

The prototype was rejected because bunnies in nature aren't black and white. The prototype shows no flower on Maxine's head.  The flowers on the base are different colors from the actual production piece.  The prototype was sold at auction at the Flamingo Fling in Florida in 1997.   There are only 2 known prototypes with the black and white bunny.

The last photo shows both the figurine and SFMB musical in the same photo. The only difference between the pieces is that the base to the musical is larger and a yellow flower with Lydia on it was added.

The photos of Bunny Buddies in the revised 1997 catalog (p. 5 and 11) and 1998 catalog (p. 4) actually show the BACK of the piece. It's corrected in the 1999 catalog.
