And the CRUISE winner is ... ?

As many of you know, there were TWO chances last year to win a FREE trip for two on the Charming Tails Cruise to Cozumel coming up on April 14 - 18, 2005.  In the last newsletter, we announced that Karen Piercy won the Character Event drawing.  And #1395 WAS the winning number for the "You're The Ticket" number match drawing.

BUT - no one came forward with the matching piece.  So another number was drawn.  Still no winner.  The number now is

#0219 is the most recently drawn lucky number!

If you have "You're the Ticket" number 0219 - then you have until February 24th to contact Fitz & Floyd and claim your FUN-tastic prize!  Call Fitz & Floyd at 1-800-527-9550, extension 7795 (just ask for Wanda Dierolf) or send an email with your name and phone number to Fitz & Floyd!  If nobody claims the prize, a new number will be drawn each week!

And be sure to let us know when you've claimed your prize (email Susan Ott and she'll take it from there!) - and we'll feature a story all about you right here in the Squashville Social Club Newsletter!

Have you ordered your SSC Buttons yet?!?

Our 2005 Squashville Social Club Button design - created just for us by Sharon Gleason!

The new buttons are now available! So get your order ready and send a check or money order, payable to "Squashville Social Club," to Joan Woodruff, 420 South Dara James Road, Des Plaines, IL  60016-2713.  Buttons are $6.00 for the first one ordered, $3.50 for each additional button in the same order.

We are still offering the "I'm Nuts About Dean Griff" buttons, too!  If you order them at the same time, they are just $3.00 each.  Otherwise, $4.00 for the first, $3.00 for each additional button.

"Random Acts of Kindness" is back!

We are VERY pleased to announce that Sandy and John Kovac have agreed to take over as Coordinators for the "Random Acts of Kindness" program!  As soon as they are ready (hopefully within a month or so), we'll make sure you get all the details on how to participate.  Keep an eye on the bulletin boards ... and thanks Sandy & John!

The "mini" hunt is on!

Last year, many collectors were thrilled to be handed a miniature version of "Say Cheese" at the Signing Events.  Since then, we've seen that the 2005 Leaf & Acorn Club Membership Kit includes a curio cabinet - with room for several more "miniature" versions of Charming Tails pieces.  Well - we've checked all the sources we can and have compiled a list of what we believe are all the miniatures that will be available to help fill the curio cabinet.

Miniature Source
Acorn Built for Two I've Fallen For You (85/521)
Candy Kisses I Love You a Bushel (84/132)
Dash Away All Headin' Home for the Holidays (87/152)
Happiness is Homemade Not available through retail sources
Home Tweet Home Sharing Good Times with Friends (88/132)
Mackenzie on Ice Not available through retail sources
Riding on Christmas Spirit Sleigh Full of Joy (98/379)
Say Cheese 2004 Signing Events
You're My Treasure Building Our Dreams Together (89/191)

Now - you're probably wondering what "Not available through retail sources" means?!!?  Well - we don't want to spoil any surprises, but we do know that these two minis are ones you won't find hidden in any piece you can buy through a Charming Tails Dealer.  Where will you find them?  Well - you'll just have to wait and see how or when you can get them to add to your new curio cabinet!

Another Special Contest and Prize!!

And speaking of the "Say Cheese Miniature" -- that is exactly what we have for this month's prize!  Handed out at the Signing Events last year, many weren't able to get this adorable miniature any where else .. UNTIL NOW!!!

So what do you have to do to get your hands on the highly sought-after "mini"?  Just unscramble the following titles of Charming Tails pieces:

T S I M C S A R H     O E K O C S I

P L E I R T     I T E D G H L

Y K C S I T     U T S O S I I N A T

T W E E E S I     E P I

So, set your brain on "un-scramble" (OK - hard to do sometimes - but try! LOL!) and send the list of these four pieces to Susan Ott no later than midnight of Sunday March 6th.  The winner will be randomly picked from all entries correctly unscrambling the titles. And a HUGH THANKS to Fitz & Floyd for donating this exciting prize!!

Last Month's Prize Winner!

Last month, we were thrilled to offer "Embrace Peace" as our Contest Prize.  And Nancy King was thrilled to be the winner!  See - easy contest, great prize!  Congrats to Nancy!!

From Susan Ott, here are our next two "Mystery Cruisers"

MYSTERY CRUISER #7

Finally, another cruiser who is NOT celebrating an anniversary or a birthday.

Though No. 7 is going to spend quality time with family friends.  This is cruise number two for Mystery Cruiser No. 7, who has been at almost every (I think with the exception of one) Charming Tails event I personally have attended and many, many that I didn’t.  Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to spend that much time with Dean.

Of all the questions I’ve asked of all of the potential cruisers, No. 7 was the only one who thought they might possibly get a ‘little work’ done.  No way, well maybe way, I will be photographing and taking a few notes for future newsletter articles but that’s it.

No. 7 will only be traveling 550 miles to New Orleans.

MYSTERY CRUISER #8

This trip is Mystery Cruiser No. 8’s first cruise – hope No. 8 has sea legs.

No. 8 is traveling with extended family members, but from what I’ve heard is not bringing the other half?  Guess No. 8 has heard my rule – sometimes the other half has to stay home in order to allow an occasional vacation with one’s life-long best friend.  (Okay, that might be my husband’s rule – after all, have ANY of you EVER seen my husband? Gosh, there’s a new contest: where am I hiding my husband?)

No. 8 has been collecting or associated with collecting for as far back as No. 8 can remember.  No. 8 is another well traveled collector and frequently attends Charming Tails events.  No. 8 can't tell us how far they will be traveling to New Orleans, because a hectic business schedule means they don't know what city they will be leaving to attend the Cruise!

Well, I hope everyone is enjoying the Mystery Cruiser contest.  The last two will be featured in the next newsletter.  Do you need a few hints?  If you’d like one, e-mail me and if enough people ask for more, I will write a little tidbit in the next newsletter.

After the cruise we will run pictures to reveal all of their identities.

Be sure to watch for the next issue of "News In A Nutshell" - with the last two "Mystery Cruisers" and we'll have the rules on how to enter
(both if you are going on the cruise and if you are not!!)

And don't forget to check out the past issues of "News in a Nutshell"
for clues to the other six Mystery Cruisers!!

Moving on ...

As many of you know, for the past 5 years, I have been very proud and pleased to have served as President of the Squashville Social Club.  Many of you also know that I announced in January that I was taking a sabbatical from publishing the Charming Tails Price Guide and my other publications.

I have also decided that I will NOT be running for re-election as President of the Squashville Social Club.  Yes - I will still be around - and hopefully just as active as ever!  But, after giving this a LOT of thought, I think it is time to allow someone else to assume the reins of leadership.  Please note that Oak Leaf Publishing will be happy to continue hosting the "News In A Nutshell" newsletter.

We also want to announce that our esteemed Secretary, Lauri Nickel, will not be seeking re-election.  We have greatly enjoyed having Lauri as an Officer of the Squashville Social Club and can assure you her presence in the Officer Meeting Chats will be sorely missed!

This makes it more important than ever for you to be sure to submit your nomination(s) for officers!  Keep an eye on the bulletin boards for all the details on submitting your nominations for new officers!

Check the "News in a Nutshell" archive for past issues!

Don't forget ... if you're ever looking for a past issue of "News in a Nutshell" - just click on the "ribbon" graphic that's towards the bottom of the CT Resource Page, right next to "Fun Stuff".  This is a permanent link and takes you to the Squashville Social Club Newsletter Archive!  All the past issues are there - for you to enjoy!

Squashville Social Club Sponsors!

Without the support of our sponsors, we would not be able to bring you the monthly contests.  Please show our sponsors how much we appreciate them by making your Charming Tails purchases from them.  And - to make it easy, we're adding a permanent list of all the wonderful stores that sponsor the Squashville Social Club.  This list will be here all the time - so anytime you're in the mood to do some "Tail shopping", just pick a sponsor and pick out the pieces you've "got to have"!!
