SSC FEATURE MEMBER

Christine from Arkansas!

Christine has collected Charming Tails for more than four years, with more than 100 pieces in her collection.  Actually - it was another collection that sparked her interest in Charming Tails

.

"I also collect Cherished Teddies," Christine said.  "Well, Cherished Teddies has 'beach' pieces, so I thought 'Buried Treasures' would look cute with my bears.  I was right and since then I have added the rest of the Charming Tails beach pieces to my beach scene  Bears and mice live together in perfect harmony."

"Bag of Tricks ... or Treats" is her favorite piece.  "Because I love candy corn and Halloween," she said.  Christine combines her two collections in unique displays.  "I mix my Cherished Teddies with my Charming Tails," she adds.  "I have Halloween, Christmas and Easter displays with pieces from both collections."

Among her other interests Christine includes scrapbooks, flower gardening and cooking & baking.  In addition to Charming Tails and Cherished Teddies, she collects Boyds bears (but mainly the plush), Mary Moo Moos, gingerbread people and Marie Osmond dolls.  "I think that the Charming Tails are so cute and have gotten better over the years."

Get Ready to PARTY!!
(and to make some great deals!)

It's going to be a real "slice-o-fun" at the IGCE Convention in Rosemont this year, as the Squashville Social Club and Bears 'N Buddies are teaming up to once again to host the

CHARMING TAILS PIZZA PARTY!!

This year's big bash will kick-off at 7:30 PM  FRIDAY (June 27th) at the Embassy Suites (formerly the Rosemont Suites).  And as much as we enjoyed last year's "cozy" (??) quarters, this year we're hosting the event in a ballroom!  So there will be PLENTY of room for socializing and fun.

Now - we've got all this room and there's no point in letting it go to waste.  So, anyone -- dealers, individuals, whomever -- with items to sell will have an opportunity to set up a table in the ballroom during the event and SELL, SELL, SELL!  And we know that many Charming Tails collectors have other interests as well (just look at this month's Featured Member!), so we are not restricting those vendors to just Charming Tails.  Who knows WHAT collectible "gem" you will find there.

As many of you know from last year - the SSC/Bears 'N Buddies Pizza Party is "THE" place to be.  In fact - we've even heard that its such a "happening" event, even some "special guests" just might be there to add to the excitement.  Now just who might show up??  Well, we can't say for sure, but "a little birdie told me" that a certain artist and certain employees of a well-known collectibles manufacturing company feel that this party is NOT to be missed!

Admission to the party is $15.00, which includes LOTS of pizza, pop and tons of snacks!  PLUS -- with your admission you'll receive your very own raffle ticket.  Prizes?  Did someone say prizes?  We're still lining up some surprises, but we can tell you that there will be LOTS to give away!

And if you are one of those who wants to take advantage of this "captive crowd" and set up a dealer table, admission is just $40.00.  This includes one table (we don't know the length yet - probably a 6' or 8' table) and it covers your regular admission, so you won't miss out on any of the food, the fun or the prizes!  Now that's a great way to get rid of some extras, make a little or a lot of money (be warned- the IGCE's Swap 'N Sell is Saturday morning!) and join in the fun - all at the same time!  And if one table just isn't enough, additional tables are available for only $20 each.

But NOW is the time to register for this BLAST!  Dealer table space
will be limited.  Send your check or money order, payable to
"Squashville Social Club." to Joan Woodruff (420 South Dara James Road, Des Plaines, IL  60016-2713) and be sure to indicate "Regular Admission" ($15.00) or "Dealer Table Admission" ($40.00).  And if you haven't already done so, be sure to call the Embassy Suites and make your reservations.  There is a special rate for the Squashville Social Club (nicely arranged by Cathy Hauk - Thanks, Cat!), so be sure to ask for it.

So where will you be on Friday night at Rosemont?  Sitting alone and bored in your room?  Or sharing the fun, food and prizes with other Charming Tails collectors?  EVERYONE is welcome - whether they are a member of the Squashville Social Club or not!  We're all one big, happy family, and are always thrilled to welcome new members!  So if you know of any other Charming Tails collectors, be sure to let them know about the Party -- they won't want to miss out on the fun either!!

April Contest!

"You just call out my name,
and you know wherever I am,
I'll come running ...
to see you again.

Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall -
all you have to do is call ...
and I'll be there, yes I will.
You've got a friend!"

Carole King and James Taylor sang it best and expressed the type of affection many collectors have found without our close-knit group of pals.  To celebrate that spirit of friendship, our contest sponsor Precious Plates & Things has donated the new Canadian Exclusive "Circle of Friends" PLUS free shipping to this month's contest winner!  So - without further delay, here's the contest.

We took the word FRIENDS and found pieces that begin with each letter.  For example, if we spelled out "PAL," we may have matched each letter to:

P -- Paint by Paws
A -- Along for the Ride
L -- Love Mice

See how easy that is?  And the actual contest below is even easier, as we've added the year of introduction for each of the correct answers, and a great clue!  Remember, we're looking for pieces that start with the each letter of the word "Friends" and match the year of introduction and the clue.

Ready ... Set ... Go!

F -- Released in 1995, Mackenzie gives his feathered friends a snack
R -- Released as a Club Piece in 2001, this one is so cute we
wouldn't "CHANGE" a thing about it!
I  -- Released in 2002, there is no customary rose between Maxine's
lips, but she still cuts quite a rug with her beau, Mackenzie.
E -- Released as a 2000 Event piece, this piece shows that a road
trip can be lots of fun! (shades of Beverly Hillbillies?)
N -- Released in 2001, Shhhhhh!!  Be very, very quiet.  We wouldn't
          want to wake Mackenzie.
D -- Released in 1997, Binkey relies on a little help from his friend ..
remember, friends are always there to help us look our best,
          especially during the holiday season.
S -- Released in 2002, this two-word phrase most definitely applied
to Charming Tails creator Dean Griff!

Email your answers to epbryan@lcc.net no later than Midnight (Central Time), May 3rd.  One lucky winner will be drawn from the correct entries.
